Empowering parents, leaders and teachers to help children thrive through proactive collaboration.
EPPIC Collaboration
When my passion for adolescent health was not enough to protect me from burnout, I needed to understand why. I discovered the power of self care and thinking tools to reframe my world.
These skills were honed further as I made sense of parenting and advocating for a son who had blocks to learning. The complex nature of inclusive collaboration in schools was highlighted.
One of his teachers sent me an unsolicited email with feedback that still makes this mother's heart well with tears.
"Can I say that as a parent of little ones, I look up to the example you are setting of how to support your kids even through high school....." (Sydney- mum of little ones and High School English Teacher)
I wasn't always equipped to manage the complexities of these partnerships. I was the 'difficult parent' who despite my experience working in various roles in education, clashed with teachers and school leaders as 'parent advocate'.
This conflict lead me to another round of 'rock bottom.' Too passionate ? Too knowledgeable ? How could these skills be a curse not a blessing? Again, I leaned on self care and thinking tools to try and untangle my confusion and navigate towards empowered action.
Still holding too tightly to my story and its unresolved angst, I completed a Master of Education. I delved deeply into research findings to answer my wonderings. The thinking tool of Pierre Bourdieu held so many relevant insights and has equipped me to guide others (you) to discover the transformation found in these new perspectives.
I specialise in building the capacity of leaders, teachers and parents to be consciously proactive in the collaborative partnerships inherent in their roles.
I've called the framework EPPIC- Enhanced Parent Partnerships in Inclusive Collaboration. I can't wait to share 'her' with you!
